Predictable where it matters

  • Step 1: Questions before answers

It always starts with questions. What problem are we trying to solve? How do we think the article, or the website copy, or social media content will solve it? What is the most important message we want to convey and what action do we want the reader to take?

Asking questions is our way to ensure that we diagnose before we prescribe. In the end, business writing is functional; there is always a purpose.

  • Step 2: Research

After I have the brief, I do additional research, which helps provide context. Context gives the reader a framework to enter your story. Research leads to facts. Facts lead to credibility.

In addition, research helps me build an integral understanding of the subject at hand.

  • Step 3: Your story written

Finally, I write your story with a clear view of what we’re trying to achieve, who we’re talking to, and what we want to convey.

I send you the first draft, make changes or fine-tune where necessary, and before you know it, it’s off to the presses (or the blog, or the Instagram account — you know what I mean).
